First, I started looking at some inner city street scenes from Detroit. Here is one that I found particularly fetching.
Since Stalker talks about his time as a gang member in Detroit, we are creating a street scene of him and his gang running from the cops. This is great because it allows me to use some of the wall pieces from the exterior of the bar, though with a much more distressed inner city look. It is also set in the 1970's so it required a bit of research as my memory of that era mostly consists of Dukes of Hazard and Dallas episodes and my Dad's old green 1970 Chevy Malibu. But hey, it did have air conditioning and an eight track, which were not standard back in those days! First, I started looking at some inner city street scenes from Detroit. Here is one that I found particularly fetching. The other important element is the police car. I used the following photos as reference. The one to the right is circa 1970 Detroit, and the one below is just another 1970's police car to help me in my search for one that fits the scale. Initially I looked for a die-cast model in 1:18 scale, but I didn't think they really fit the exaggerated look of the toy universe (not to mention that they cost $50-$80). I felt they might look out of place being so realistic. So this was much harder than I was expecting because there are not a lot of 1970s toy police cars out there, apparently. Fortunately, I found the perfect candidate courtesy of good ol' Radio Shack! This fits the era and also looks much more toy like so that it would not be out of place sitting next to the VAMP or APC. Whew! This scene is taking shape, but I have to locate or make some police figures as well as create versions of Stalker and his gang. Think of what people were wearing in the 70's and you will know that this is no small challenge. But I can't wait to sink my teeth into creating some custom figures!

Are you willing to sell the radio shack police car? My boyfriend had this car when he was a boy & I’d love to buy for his birthday.

Hi Maria, I appreciate the offer, and I do plan to sell some of the items from the production once it is finished. But it will be a few months before I reach that point. So if you want to buy this more urgently, I recommend checking some of the sites that sell used toys. Otherwise, I will be happy to reach out when it comes available. Thanks!
